4-of-9) Broad gauge, diesel locomotive, class WDM2 Co-Co 17827 (built DLW (Diesel Locomotive Works, Varansi), 1978-9) departs from Jalandhar, India, with a local passenger train, 25th December 1993.

This locomotive is the slighlty sinister looking Americanised, cut-down, full-width, short hood version of the WDM2, nicknamed “Jumbos”, with strange “spiders web” protective grills over the front windows.  These were designed to give improved visibility for the drivers but any improvements were minimal and there were disadvantages of this arrangement so this version was only produced for a short period.
